How to Join the Night Shift Hospital Playtest

Prerequisites Before You Start

You need a Steam account in good standing, the Steam client installed on a compatible PC, and access to the official Night Shift Hospital store page by Knitted Cats—not third-party download sites or unrelated Roblox games using similar names.

Night Shift Hospital remains Coming Soon as of July 2026; playtest is not the full public release. Expect work-in-progress bugs, balance changes, and possible progress wipes between phases.

Optional but recommended: skim how to play and configure controls so day-one access is not day-one confusion.

Step 1: Wishlist and Follow on Steam

Open the official Steam store listing and click Add to your wishlist. Also click Follow to receive news posts when Knitted Cats opens playtest waves or publishes patches.

Enable wishlist and event notifications in Steam account settings so emails and client alerts reach you—details on wishlist guide.

Wishlisting alone does not grant instant playtest access but is the standard first step Steam uses for interest tracking and announcements.

Share the official link with co-op friends so your squad enrolls on the same product page.

Step 2: Request or Accept Playtest Access

When Knitted Cats enables a playtest, Steam may show Request Access or Install on the store page or library under playtest apps. Wording varies by phase.

Some waves auto-grant access to random wishlist pools; others require manual request approval. Missing one wave does not permanently exclude you.

If Install appears, download through the Steam client only. Do not use external launchers claiming early keys.

Ensure your account region matches any stated restrictions on the news post.

Step 3: Install and Verify Build

Install the playtest build to fast storage if possible. Verify file integrity after large patches.

Compare build number or news post date with friends before co-op—version mismatch causes invite failures.

Update GPU drivers and Windows before first launch to reduce shader stutter common in fresh builds.

Launch once solo to complete any first-run setup before hosting friends.

Step 4: Assemble Your Co-Op Squad

Each player needs their own Steam playtest entitlement on their own account.

Host sends Steam invites after everyone is in the main menu or lobby screen per current build behavior.

Agree voice platform and roles using co-op guide and voice chat setup.

Schedule a shared time block; playtests are easier to organize than async solo only.

Step 5: Play and Submit Feedback

After sessions, complete Steam surveys or in-client feedback if provided. Cite reproducible steps, squad size, disaster types, and mistake scenarios.

Continue learning via beginner, mistake limit, and nightly disasters between tests.

When a phase closes, access may disappear until the next opening—watch release status and followed game news.

Launch purchase will replace playtest entitlement separately when Coming Soon ends.
